ROBOT TOYS: Zylmex Metal Man Radon figure & saucer

For a blog supposedly started about toys, I certainly don't post much about them. Here's Radon, and his bitchin' spaceship. These guys were 1970s metal knock-offs of Micronauts, but look swell anyway.

There were three robot designs, along with astronauts, police and military figures. It's tough to find their accessories.

1970s: JVC Space Helmet TV

First score of Saturday. It powers up, but I will need to hook a vintage game console to see how the picture looks. Good thing I bought a vintage Sega Genesis as well.

Mid-Century: Mondrian-style Pendant light

Another awesome Saturday find. This light is from the 1960s, and is supposedly Italian-made. I really like the combination of Frank Lloyd Wright metal work and Piet Mondrian design. I can't wait to clean it up and hang it.

Mid-Century: Starburst Clock

A good weekend for rummage sales. I found this sea-urchin clock hanging from a shed door in the boonies. It's going to need some overhauling-hence the disassembled pix. The wood is so dry, it seems it might spontaneously combust. I plan on swapping the frozen clockwork with a battery-powered unit.

DANISH MODERN - mid-century mid-week strikes again!

Wednesday is my big day to hit all the thrifts. The pickings were rather slim that day, as it started with this lot:

These are Stelton /Arne Jabobsen candle holders. I scored a great Dansk Tiny Taper spider and a pair of brass Swedish ones last week, so stainless candle holders were kind of a let down.

Literally, the last place I hit was my favorite vintage shop. It's run by a little old lady who specializes in the sort of country stuff other LOLs enjoy. My previous decent finds were some sterling, and this awesome MC wood panther.

However, this was waiting for me:

YESSSSSSSS! 48" tripod DM goodness. The shades are perfect. These do a good $200-300 each, and usually with scorch-marks galore. While table lamps, they're also tall enough to be used as floor lamps. Sometimes the thrifting gods pat me on the head, and tell me what a good boy I am.

Here are the other candle-holders, if interested.

1970s Brutalism: C Jere knock-off boids

Thrift score two Saturdays ago. I've taken an interest in these welded nightmares since I apparently left behind an $800 wall sculpture at a local thrift store. I had assumed it was something someone did in Bicentennial shop class. I had actually lifted it off the wall to determine the weight of the brass scrap. Live and learn.

DANISH MODERN: vintage Scandinavian stainless steel crockery

1: Selandia kid's bear plate...I have neither a child, nor a bear, but it was only a dollar.
2: Selandia serving dishes (2X)
3: Gense divided bowl (Sweden). This may actually be a dog dish.
4: Kalmar dish.

I like having unbreakable stuff, but it's horrible to handle when you're hungover.
I suppose that's why Melmac exists.

CONCERT POSTERS: Dear Mr Echo...

Some recent eBay concert poster scores. I find myself going through a Donnie Darko-era music retrospective. These are about to be framed.

Frank made me buy them.
